News: Peaceful march for equality shuts down Atlantic Ave. at Virginia Beach Oceanfront

The few hundred people who marched along Atlantic Avenue at the Oceanfront on Saturday had a simple message.

“I want everyone to have a fair chance,” said Diane Wesh, 25, a law student at Regent University.

Chanting, singing and waving signs, marchers closed one of the city’s busiest streets in the resort strip in what organizers called a historic moment unlike any Virginia Beach has seen since the Civil Rights era.
